Horsepower Moving and Storage is a family-owned Louisville moving company, licensed and insured, registered with the FMCSA as USDOT 4474565. Every mover on our crews is background-checked on an ongoing basis. We provide a written estimate before we schedule your date, and the clock starts when the crew arrives at your door – not when they leave our yard.

• Labor – billed hourly with a two-hour minimum. Clock starts when the crew arrives at your door, not when they leave the yard
• Truck fee – one flat fee, set by where you’re moving and confirmed with your estimate
• Deposit – $100, applied to your final bill
• Weekends and holidays – same rate as weekdays, 365 days a year
• Payment – cash, check, or tap-to-pay card at completion. 3% service charge on cards; cash and check avoid it
• Sales tax – Kentucky’s 6% is not included in estimates
• Price match – send us a competing written estimate and our operations team will review it and match it

Furniture disassembly and reassembly is included at no additional fee. Beds, tables, and anything else that has to come apart to get through a doorway goes back together at the destination – beds the same day, so nobody sleeps on a mattress on the floor.

Mattresses and box springs come off frames and go into mattress bags. Flat-screen televisions get wrapped. Where a piece genuinely won’t clear a turn, we remove the banister rather than force it – our crews do it routinely.

There’s no limit on how many boxes you have or what the load weighs. It only has to fit our trucks, which are all 26 feet long, 7 feet 9 inches wide and 6 feet 10 inches high, with either a liftgate or a ramp. One truck holds roughly 1,600 square feet of normally furnished living space. Larger homes need a second truck, and when a move takes two or more, we pack the day before rather than compressing everything into one day.

At the destination we place furniture where you want it and set boxes down in the rooms they belong to. Before the crew leaves, your crew chief walks you through the itemized Bill of Lading.
