Yes, and it's separate from the hourly labor rate. It's a flat fee, set by where you're moving and confirmed with your estimate. Multi-stop moves and anywhere outside these areas are still estimated a separate flat truck fee.

Yes. There's a two-hour minimum on all labor.

The clock starts when the crew arrives. Not when they leave our yard, and not when the truck is loaded.

No. In-home and on-site estimates are free. We'll come out for any move on request; we especially recommend one for larger homes.

No. Estimates don't include the 6% Kentucky sales tax, which is added on top.

You're charged for the time the crew actually needs. When a move runs over, it's usually for one of two reasons: the house wasn't packed and ready when the crew arrived, or there was more in it than we were told. For scale, one 26-foot truck fits up to about 1,600 square feet of normally furnished living space - densely furnished homes, or undisclosed attics, barns, and basements, are what push a move past its estimate.

Differently from a local move. Interstate jobs are estimated per move rather than by the hour, based on what's being moved and where it's going. Estimates are free, you get a written price before you commit to a date, and for an interstate move we'd encourage an on-site walkthrough at any size - getting the volume wrong costs far more when the truck is going 800 miles than when it's going eight.

No. Weekends are not more expensive at Horsepower Moving and Storage.

The deposit is $100, and it's always deducted from your final bill.

We run two arrival windows: morning (8-9am) and afternoon (12-4pm).

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice and recommend booking at least two weeks ahead. We can sometimes accommodate last-minute moves.

Yes. Note that the truck fee is calculated separately for multi-stop moves, so the standard flat fee doesn't apply.

No. Our crews always work as quickly as they can, but the total depends on how packed and ready you are, access at both ends, drive time, and other things outside our control. We won't promise a cap we can't keep.

Yes, at no additional fee.

We do. It comes off the frame and goes into a mattress bag to protect it in transit.

Yes. Please disconnect them and remove them from their wall mounts before the crew arrives. We won't remount them at the new location.

No. We move them, but please have someone else disconnect and reconnect them. Water lines can be faulty, and we don't want to cause a flood.

No limit on either. Your goods have to fit our 26-foot trucks, which measure 7 feet 9 inches wide and 6 feet 10 inches high.

Yes, no problem. Sometimes it means removing a banister, which our crews are used to.

Yes. Labor-only loading and unloading is available, priced hourly with a flat travel fee.

Yes, to and from all 48 contiguous United States. We're licensed and insured and registered with the FMCSA under USDOT 4474565. Interstate moves need more lead time than local ones, so book as early as you can.

Yes, we can dispose of furniture for a fee - just tell us at your estimate so it's built into the plan. If the home also needs cleaning afterward, we work with a partner we're happy to refer you to.

We move upright pianos only as part of a household move, not as a standalone job, for a special-item fee confirmed with your estimate. We don't move non-upright pianos - baby grands or grands - for liability reasons. For those, we recommend Gist Piano Center.

Upright pianos, safes between 300 and 500 pounds, full-size treadmills (not walking pads), large massage chairs, and trampolines. Each carries a special-item fee confirmed with your estimate.

Yes. At least three movers must be present, and our two-hour minimum still applies. Pool tables and above-ground pools: we'll move them once they're disassembled. Slate is heavy and brittle, and a pool table should never travel assembled. Steepleton handles pool table work in Louisville if you need a referral. Items we don't move: sheds, saunas, grandfather clocks, and grand or baby grand pianos.

Yes. We move washers, dryers, refrigerators, and all other household appliances. However, we cannot disconnect or reconnect them, so they must be disconnected and ready before we arrive.

Yes. Packing services are available at a discounted rate off our usual hourly labor rate.

Yes, and we’ll share our price list. Our crew can drop off materials before your move or handle the packing for you. Our materials are priced below what you'd pay at big-box stores.

It depends on the size of the move. A one-truck move is packed the same day. A move that needs two or more trucks is packed the day before, so loading starts on schedule rather than waiting on boxes.

We offer storage and can include it in your estimate. Both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled options are available.

For storage moves, you can either buy our moving blankets so your things stay wrapped the whole time, or we'll unwrap them for you.

Cash, check, or card. We don't store the card used for your deposit. When the move is complete, you can tap to pay with any card, which carries a 3% service charge, or pay by check or cash.

Yes. Paying by check or cash avoids the 3% service charge.

No. Checks are deposited electronically within minutes of the move's completion to confirm sufficient funds, so we can't offer a delay.

Yes. Your itemized receipt is on your Bill of Lading, which your crew chief reviews with you at the end of the move.

Submit your deposit when you're certain of the date. We do accommodate rescheduling requests on a case-by-case basis.

Deposits are non-refundable. There's also a cancellation fee if the move is canceled within 72 hours of the scheduled date, same-day included.

We're licensed and insured, and registered with the FMCSA as USDOT 4474565. If something is damaged, we reimburse according to the protection plan you choose at the start of your move.

We offer replacement-value protection options on every move. We'll go through the options that apply to your move and put them in writing before you book.
